The Loadhog Pallet Lid optimises Volkswagen’s supply chain as it achieves a one month return on investment.

The automotive company, Volkswagen Group Components, investment in the Loadhog Pallet Lid has brought huge benefits.

Group Components in the Volkswagen Group is responsible for the development and production of battery systems and cells, electric drives for new electric vehicles, and the management of production partners.

Patrick Kirschner, in charge of site optimisation and production systems at Volkswagen Group Components Kassel, said: “The Loadhog Pallet Lid is the perfect solution to secure a load on a pallet and can easily be reused for several years.”

Volkswagen set a goal to completely remove banding and other operational costs from their supply chain. The banding machines were constantly breaking with no time to fix. The Loadhog Pallet Lid helped them achieve this instantly, allowing them to move parts between production lines and sites faster, and more ergonomically than banding. The Pallet Lid also removes the need for double handling.

Kirschner added: “The unique design with six grip zones eliminates the need to bend down to fasten and remove the wrapping film and strapping band. Thanks to the Loadhog products, we have improved our efficiency while saving costs & reducing waste!”

The previous method being used by Volkswagen to secure pallets was very time consuming, and inefficient. Once the Pallet Lid had been implemented, they recorded a minimum time saving of 99.52 seconds per pallet. A huge benefit of which in return allowed Volkswagen to effectively optimise its supply chain.
