LOADHOG CELEBRATES COMMITMENT TO REAL LIVING WAGE

7th September 2023

Loadhog has today been accredited as a Living Wage Employer. Their Living Wage commitment will see everyone working at Loadhog receive a minimum hourly wage of £10.90, significantly higher than the government minimum for over 23s, which currently stands at £10.42 per hour.

Loadhog is based in Sheffield, Yorkshire, the UK region with the highest proportion of non-Living Wage jobs in the country (15.8%), with over 368,000 jobs paying less than the real Living Wage. Despite this, Loadhog has committed to pay the real Living Wage and deliver a fair day’s pay for a hard day’s work.

Loadhog is a multi-award winning, employee-owned, UK Manufacturer, dedicated to the design, manufacture, sale, and pooling of returnable packaging solutions across a diverse range of industries. We are committed to introducing new sustainable supply chain solutions that save companies valuable time, money, and labour.

Being employee owned positively influences the way our people act within our business. Our people are our greatest asset, and we take care of them as the future of our business depends on them.

The real Living Wage is the only rate calculated according to the costs of living. It provides a voluntary benchmark for employers that wish to ensure their staff earn a wage they can live on, not just the government minimum. Since 2011 the Living Wage movement has delivered a pay rise to over 450,000 people and put over £2 billion extra into the pockets of low paid workers.

Georgina Rosson, Loadhog’s Payroll Finance Manager, said: “The Living Wage Foundation is setting realistic pay levels for living in the UK. Loadhog has a very similar agenda for its staff and it seemed natural that we would join them and help push the movement forward. It’s clear that the more businesses that sign up the more likely it is that everyone else will follow. We have moral obligations to our employees and those in the rest of society.”

Katherine Chapman, Director, Living Wage Foundation said: “We’re delighted that Loadhog has joined the movement of over 12,000 responsible employers across the UK who voluntarily commit to go further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on.”
